A Fire Risk Assessment is used to help identify all the potential fire hazards and risks within the premises and those using it.

The main requirements are to:

• Carry out an assessment considering all occupants including visitors;
• Identify significant findings and the details of anyone who may be at risk in the event of a fire;
• Provide and maintain fire precautions;
• Provide information, instruction and training to anyone who may be at risk in the event of a fire.

The Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 builds upon existing legislation and shifts the emphasis toward prevention of fire.

Areas identified as causing high potential risk can be afforded greater attention and suitable precautions can be adopted.
