Sandwell & West Birmingham Hospitals NHS Trust have confirmed our support services for April 2021, meaning we have officially been at both City and Sandwell Hospital, providing our vital Face Fit Testing Service, for over a year.
We have performed 9,584 fit tests across the Trust and have had a physical presence on site for just under 300 out of the 365 days or so available. This has also given us a great opportunity to upskill dozens of staff in both qualitative and quantitative fit testing. We will also be looking to put several staff through the Fit2Fit accreditation in the coming months.
Our Onsite Face Fit Clinics at City and Sandwell Hospital are due to run a little differently this month, in that one of the two fit testers appointed for each site will act as a floating RPE expert; problem solving, carrying out emergency fit tests on consultants drafted in for one off operations and generally moving around site to help staff who are struggling with their RPE. The extra support will enable the Trust's own staff to focus on clearing patient backlogs.
Our Face Fit Open Clinics in Birmingham, Wakefield and Livingston continue to offer appointments to those in need of this vital service and to ensure that they are wearing correctly fitted RPE. Wearers are also trained on how to care for and maintain their RPE so that it remains fit for use and is in good working order.
