A vacancy has arisen within our Ossett office for a trainee Laboratory Assistant.  The successful person will be taught to identify asbestos in samples of building material within our busy UKAS accredited laboratory. The work is safe but requires patience, concentration and the use of microscopes. Good eyesight, with or without glasses, and good colour vision is essential. Some administrative office duties will also be required.

It would be an advantage for the successful candidate to have a laboratory or scientific background and experience of using a microscope. Candidates with previous administrative experience who are IT literate will also be considered.

Full training will be given leading to a nationally recognised qualification. This role also requires a commitment to study in order to understand the related legislative and quality requirements, as well as gaining practical skills needed to pass a written and practical exam.

The role(s) will initially involve shadowing a team of experienced asbestos surveyors and analysts. Some travel to other locations will be required due to national contracts, as well as a flexible approach to working hours, as occasional evening and weekend work may also be required. All work conducted is carried out in a safe manner and full training/supervision will be given.

The contracted hours of work are 40 per week, Monday to Friday 8:00am – 4.30pm. The starting salary for the role is £16,500.00 per annum. Other benefits include overtime paid £12.50 per hour and shift enhancements, company paid health and well-being plan, pension and 22 days holiday plus statutory bank holidays.

A company vehicle may also be made available to the successful candidate who shows potential and progression and the salary will be increased as qualifications are gained.

A vacancy has arisen for a Project Manager. The role can be based at our Halesowen or Wakefield Office.
 
The position will primarily entail working alongside the existing Senior Project Managers to co-ordinate and deliver asbestos services.
 
The role will comprise of:
 
Supporting the Senior Project Managers in the delivery of asbestos services to a range of leading retail sector clients;
Ensuring these clients receive an excellent service and that their requests are managed in a timely fashion while ensuring all agreed KPIs are met;
Creating asbestos removal specifications for asbestos removal works following on from the initial site surveys;
Attending pre-commencement site meetings;
Managing asbestos removal projects on behalf of clients;
Assisting the Project Co-ordinators in the creation of an accurate scope of work for analytical and surveying projects;
Creation of post remedial completion packs and consolidating air monitoring documentation as part of updating the sites overall asbestos records.  
Periodically undertake analytical and/or surveying works as required.
 
The successful candidate will need to:
 
Contribute to effective team working and provide appropriate cover for colleagues as required while being capable of working independently from time to time.
Possess excellent IT skills: Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel with good levels of literacy.
Hold the BOHS P402 and/or P403/P404.
Other qualifications such as the BOHS P405 or S301/W504 or equivalent are advantageous. 
Have a minimum of 2 years’ experience of analytical monitoring and/or surveying.
Knowledge of the asbestos removal industry is preferable but not essential. However, further training will be provided on the job.
 
The annual salary to be offered with the position is from £19,000.00 - £28,500.00 depending on qualifications and experience. 
 
Overtime is also available for site based working on a weekend.
 
General terms and conditions including the overtime policy are detailed below:
 
40 hours per week Monday to Friday, with a 30 minute unpaid lunch break. Usual hours would be 8am – 4.30pm, but these hours can be partially flexible for the right candidate;
Provision of a company car which can be used for private use, the cost of private fuel use is recouped via the payroll on a monthly basis 
Some out of hours and work from other locations will be required, including participation in a weekend rota (currently this stands at one weekend ‘on call’ in 6 weekends);
22 days holiday plus 8 statutory bank holidays per annum (long service award applies at 3 and 5 years);
Company paid Healthcare and Wellbeing plan with Simply Health (long service award applies at 3 and 5 years);
Auto-enrolment into a company pension with Aegon, into which the company will contribute 1% of qualifying earnings.

A BOHS P403 and P404 (or RSPH equivalent) qualified Asbestos Analyst is required for our Halesowen Office.

The role involves the supervision of asbestos removal projects and undertaking air monitoring.

The successful candidate will be responsible for airborne fibre sampling, fibre counting, undertaking four stage clearance inspection, and clearance air testing and reassurance, background, leak and personal monitoring.

The successful candidate will also be given an opportunity to undertake further BOHS Proficiency Certifications.

Salary is negotiable between £18,500 - £28,000 dependent on experience and qualifications. Overtime is paid at £20.00 per hour and shift enhancements are also paid.
