Laboratory Assistant - Wakefield
A vacancy has arisen within our Ossett office for a trainee Laboratory Assistant. The successful person will be taught to identify asbestos in samples of building material within our busy UKAS accredited laboratory. The work is safe but requires patience, concentration and the use of microscopes. Good eyesight, with or without glasses, and good colour vision is essential. Some administrative office duties will also be required.
It would be an advantage for the successful candidate to have a laboratory or scientific background and experience of using a microscope. Candidates with previous administrative experience who are IT literate will also be considered.
Full training will be given leading to a nationally recognised qualification. This role also requires a commitment to study in order to understand the related legislative and quality requirements, as well as gaining practical skills needed to pass a written and practical exam.

Trainee Asbestos Surveyor Vacancy – Wakefield
An exciting and rewarding opportunity has arisen to join a successful and well-established business in the health and safety industry. The role(s) will initially involve shadowing a team of experienced asbestos surveyors and analysts. Should the candidate show good aptitude and enthusiasm for the role, there will be an opportunity to undertake nationally recognised qualifications to become an Asbestos Surveyor or Analyst.
The successful candidate will be extremely motivated to develop their skills/knowledge and preferably have some construction site / trade experience or a relevant educational background. The candidate will also have an excellent awareness of health and safety requirements and the ability to write accurate reports. Some manual handling, working at height and confined space may be required (full training will be given).
Some travel to other locations will be required due to national contracts, as well as a flexible approach to working hours, as occasional evening and weekend work may also be required. All work conducted is carried out in a safe manner and full training/supervision will be given.
The contracted hours of work are 40 per week, Monday to Friday 8:00am – 4.30pm. The starting salary for the role is £16,500.00 per annum. Other benefits include overtime paid £12.50 per hour and shift enhancements, company paid health and well-being plan, pension and 22 days holiday plus statutory bank holidays.
A company vehicle may also be made available to the successful candidate who shows potential and progression and the salary will be increased as qualifications are gained.

- A full driving licence
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Possess a minimum 5 GCSES including Maths and English (a construction or health and safety qualification would be an advantage).
- Excellent interpersonal skills including first rate customer service
- The ability to work on your own initiative and as part of a team
- Be willing to provide an Enhanced CRB disclosure (cost will be met by the company)
- CSCS Card (would be an advantage

Qualified Asbestos Analyst – Halesowen
A BOHS P403 and P404 (or RSPH equivalent) qualified Asbestos Analyst is required for our Halesowen Office.
The role involves the supervision of asbestos removal projects and undertaking air monitoring.
The successful candidate will be responsible for airborne fibre sampling, fibre counting, undertaking four stage clearance inspection, and clearance air testing and reassurance, background, leak and personal monitoring.
The successful candidate will also be given an opportunity to undertake further BOHS Proficiency Certifications.
Salary is negotiable between £18,500 - £28,000 dependent on experience and qualifications. Overtime is paid at £20.00 per hour and shift enhancements are also paid.
