Asiem Ahmad picAsiem is from Glasgow and is married with four children. Asiem loves the outdoors including hill walking and cycling. We asked him some questions about working at Bradley Environmental and the future of the industry.

How long have you worked at Bradleys and what’s your role?

I have worked for Bradley Environmental for over 12 months and I am the Deputy Technical Manager for the Livingston Office. I support the Technical and Commercial Manager with the performance and development of the Livingston Technical Team.

I am an experienced Asbestos Consultant and I liaise with our key clients to ensure the delivery of a tailored asbestos management solution and to develop new business opportunities.

How long have you been in the asbestos management and compliance industry?

I am an experienced Asbestos Consultant with over 17 years’ surveying, analytical and project management experience. Over the years I have carried out thousands of asbestos management, demolition and refurbishment surveys on all types of properties including domestic, commercial, industrial, NHS and educational properties, ranging from small individual sites to large scale estate portfolios. I have helped many clients to develop an asbestos re-inspection and management strategy that’s tailored to them rather than a one size fits all approach.

What’s the biggest client project you’ve worked on?

I have worked on so many projects that it’s hard to pin point one.  I think that working on MOD properties has been one of my favourite experiences in the asbestos management industry, just because of the nature of the client and the complexity of some of their properties. One day you could be working in houses and the following day you could be surveying an actual army base!

What’s it like to work for Bradleys?

The Livingston office is new so I have only been at Bradleys for a short time, but even now I can see that Bradley Environmental is a great place to work with so many opportunities to develop into other areas of the business such as legionella, occupational hygiene, training and other compliance services. The staff and management team are the most helpful that I’ve ever known and worked with.

Lockdown and Covid – What’s the future for the asbestos and H&S compliance industry?

We are in a period of change, but like all businesses we are trying to get our head around the crazy new world we are living in. Some businesses will come through this stronger and some may not survive. I have a seen a drop in certain parts of the business, but as months goes by I do see the business positively picking up and gaining new clients. We all need to adjust and be multi-disciplined and develop more of a sustainable way of working safely and being productive on site, in the office and at home. Health and Safety in business and places of work has never been more important.
